Federal Board of Revenue or FBR took the strict action against the illegal sale of cigarettes in the country.
Action against illegal sale of cigarettes in Pakistan taken by FBR. However, the non duty paid cigarettes sale is ongoing in the local market. According to the sources, the order was issued after complaints related to the illegal sale of cigarettes in local market. However, it was causing high revenue losses and tax evasion.
One FBR official revealed that Regional Tax Office Rawalpindi captured 1.38 million illegal cigarettes from the buildings of M/s Sammar Traders and M/s New Peshawar Traders in Chakwal.
One of the official informed that the legal proceedings against people who are custodians of these cigarettes will be started under the Federal Excise Act 2005. However, it will based on the information provided by property’s owner and the detailed report will be also submitted as per the scenario.
