The newly formed government is thinking to review the China Pakistan Economic Corridor or CPEC strategy.
The government is reviewing CPEC strategy to accommodate the policy of their first 100 days. However, the aim is to transform it into the real game changer for the country.
According to the government officials, Pakistan was not taking full advantage of CPEC-related investments due to insufficient transfer of knowledge and capabilities. However, it is also due to lesser partnerships with local businesses and high dependence on imports of goods and services from China.
PTI manifesto pledged to create a two-way linkage with China and promote an indigenous-focused growth strategy and leverage trade infrastructure. In addition, to utilize Chinese expertise, latest technologies and efficient methods to supplement domestic manufacturing capabilities and enhance yield in agriculture.
9 CPEC zones will be developed across Pakistan to attract foreign industrial investment.
