Diesel Price Drops by Rs32.63, Petrol Gets More Expensive

Diesel just got a lot cheaper in Pakistan. From Wednesday, high-speed diesel (HSD) costs Rs363.06 per litre, down Rs32.63 from the previous rate. Petrol moved the other way, going up by Rs2.97 to Rs337.51 per litre.

New rates from August 20, 2026:

  • Petrol: Rs337.51 per litre, up Rs2.97 from Rs334.54
  • High-speed diesel (HSD): Rs363.06 per litre, down Rs32.63 from Rs395.69

This cut didn’t come through Pakistan’s usual daily pricing formula. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally directed Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to go to Karachi and negotiate directly with oil refineries for relief on diesel prices. The refineries agreed, and OGRA then worked out the exact reduction.
